When your employment ends – Section 2

When you have ended your government employment without retiring, your occupational pension will still be waiting for you. The money will still be with SPV, Kåpan Government Employees Pension Fund and the insurer that manages the selectable part for you. You also have certain protection for three months if you become ill or pass away.

During the time in government employment you have earned into an occupational pension that consists of different parts. The occupational pension will be managed until you retire and apply to have the money paid out. 

You will have after-protection for three months after your employment has ended. 

Your money

Your money is in different places. Please read further regarding the different parts. 

Your selectable part

The occupational pension that you have earned for the selectable part will still be with the insurer of your choice. Your money can be with different insurers. If you have not made an active choice the money defaults to a traditional pension insurance with Kåpan Government Employees Pension Fund. If you are born before 1966 or have a lower pension age the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 61 years of age. If you are born 1966 or later the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 63 years of age.

This part will be with Kåpan Government Employees Pension Fund until you reach retirement age. If you are born before 1966 or have a lower pension age the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 61 years of age. If you are born 1966 or later the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 63 years of age.

The part Kåpan Flex

This part will be with Kåpan Government Employees Pension Fund until you reach retirement age. Earliest possible pay-out for this pension is 63 years of age. 

Before you apply

The defined benefit retirement pension 

If you have a defined benefit retirement pension this will be with SPV. If you are born before 1966 or have a lower pension age the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 61 years of age. If you are born 1966 or later the earliest possibly pay-out for this pension is 63 years of age. For pay-out you need to send an application to SPV. 

Before you apply

If you become ill or pass away within three months of ending your employment

If you have ended your employment and become sick or pass away within three months, a certain amount of cover remains. This is called after protection. After protection applies only if you did not obtain new employment in which you have similar protection.

  • You may have the right to sickness pension if you become ill. To receive sick pension you need to have had sjukpenning from Försäkringskassan uninterrupted until you receive sjukersättning from Försäkringskassan. You will then keep on earning into the parts of your occupational pension as long as you are ill.
  • There may be money for your family in the event you pass away in form of survivor's pension.
